The Ashland Theatre is hiring a Theatre Technician to oversee production for live events.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Job responsibilities:
- Oversee the successful operations and maintenance of the lighting and sounds systems for the 275-seat theatre.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all technical and utility vendors.
- Act as primary technical of contact for bands to advance shows and riders.
- Coordinate technical needs of rentals and live events.
- Advance all live events and act as on-site technical director for both walk-throughs and day-of.
- Day of show management of concert and rental events from load in to load out, adherence to time schedules, sound restrictions and cost containment.
- Train supporting staff on lights and sound, oversee event support staff.
- Responsible for solving any production issues that may arise at any given point in the show timeline.
- Survey the building for any required work or updates to all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, sound, carpentry, and painting.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the projector booth and sound booth.
- Work with staff to oversee successful operations of the for the Sony 4K projector. Assist with ingesting films, trailers, and related advertising for the Projector, and keeping all systems and content updated and relevant.
- Maintain the closed-captioning system, making sure all accessible devices are in working order.
As a community-based non-profit, we expect positive customer interactions, and respect to both patrons and other team members. Consistent and clear communication is required.
Qualifications:
- Three to five years work experience in a concert or theatre background required
- Working knowledge of technical aspects of concert production, including lighting sound, staging.
- Experience with Midas M32 sound console and/or comparable systems strongly preferred.
- Experience with ONYX NX-Touch lighting platforms and/or comparable systems strongly preferred.
- Possess strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with attention to detail/problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with fellow team members and management
- Ability to work a variable schedule, including weekends and night shifts
