The Ashland Theatre is hiring a Development Associate to spearhead the fundraising efforts of the organization. Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Associate will have the opportunity to build fundraising efforts, donor relations, and foundation and government support. The Development Associate will closely with the ED and Board to lead special events, annual giving campaigns, and direct mail efforts.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan
· Conduct prospect research to identify potential individual and institutional supporters
· Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, government agencies and elected officials through cultivation and writing and editing proposals
· Manage the donor database and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
· Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
· Create and execute a strategy to grow and sustain the base of individual donors
· Work with the Executive Director and Board to oversee the organization of special events
Qualifications and Experience:
The Development Associate will possess the following skills and experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field (Required)
· Three to five years’ experience in development (strongly preferred)
· Interest in non-profit arts
· Experience in grant writing
· Excellent oral, and written communication skills
· Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect of colleagues, volunteers, and donors
· Working knowledge of donor management and fundraising systems
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
